For me, Christianity is not a creed, it is a person. It is about getting to know him who is True. How would you define the Christian faith? Sure, our faith is based on the Bible. But without knowing Jesus, our faith is not alive. Why bother with a dead religion when you can be made alive in Jesus?

And we [have seen and] know [by personal experience] that the Son of God has [actually] come [to this world], and has given us understanding and insight so that we may [progressively and personally] know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life (1 John 5:20, AMP).

Faith is simple and the children’s song ”This I Know, Jesus Loves Me” is actually very profound. It sums up our faith beautifully. Jesus loves us to heaven and back and wants us to get to know him better. Faith is all about getting to know him who is true. The Bible tells us so.

Know him who is True

The Holy Spirit testifies to us about Jesus. He is true. And this we know deep in our hearts. We are so blessed to have the true God offering us love upon love and life upon life. Jesus doesn’t want to be distant from us, he wants to walk hand in hand and share everything, the good and the bad in our lives. Nothing scares him away. So let’s not walk away ourselves.

Sometimes people tell me that God feels distant. I get that. But there’s a cure for that (and it’s also good to know faith is not a feeling). The only way to get to know him who is True is through spending time with him. Jesus is not an imaginary friend or a theoretical framework. Jesus is the true God who wants all of his children to abide in him. How do we do that? By praying, listening, meditating on His Word, and trusting what he says.

Christian faith is a grace-filled existence in God’s presence. It is joy-filled living in Jesus. And it is a peace-filled journey home to heaven. I don’t know anything better and that’s why I hope and pray that as many people as possible would get to know him who is True.

You have prepared everything for us in Jesus,
help us to receive him and embrace life in him.
Only in you we find truth, comfort, and all that we need.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Bless us with your presence and revive us to live for your glory.
