If you feel you’ve lost yourself or your identity, don’t worry. God’s got your back. You can find all that you’ve lost in Jesus. Yes. You can find your lost life or soul in Jesus. It’s all safe in Jesus. Even if you’ve lost yourself, God will not lose you. So, all you need to do is to turn around and go to Jesus. You can find yourself in Jesus.

He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Col.1:17, NIV)

So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. (Col. 2:10, NLT)

You are not complete but through your union with Christ. Only in Christ, you can find your true identity. It’s as simple as that. Yet we make it complicated when we listen to what the world is whispering to us. No, you can’t find yourself inside of yourself no matter how deep you try to dig. And, no, you can’t find it in the world either, the world and all the humans are broken and wounded. Only God gives us wholeness because apart from him we are not whole.

May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body—and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ. The One who called you is completely dependable. If he said it, he’ll do it! (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24, MSG)

Find yourself in Jesus

Without Jesus, we don’t know our true selves and without him, we can’t find our true calling. So no wonder we are lost without Jesus. No need to panic, you can find yourself in Jesus, so turn back to him. It doesn’t matter if you do it for the first time or for the 1000th time, you are more than welcome.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9, NIV)

Jesus can’t wait to heal and help you. And his help does not stop there. He also wants to make you holy and whole and give your life purpose and meaning. That’s what I call happiness. Or complete bliss.

Dear God,
You are so wonderful to us, thank you.
Forgive us for searching for meaning and purpose and identity outside of you when you are the source of light and have the words of eternal life.
We need you and we surrender to you.
Show us our true identity, and lead us to fulfill the tasks you’ve called us to do.
Bless us, inspire us, and make us holy and whole.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

P.S.

Isn’t it amazing? God is so good to us. He does save us by grace but he does not leave us to deal with life and its troubles on our own. He provides us everything, starting from our identity in Christ. God knows us and has great plans for each of us. So let’s not waste any time looking for our identity or purpose or meaning in life in the wrong places. Let’s run to Jesus and let him make us holy and whole and then show us what he has planned for us to do to give us purpose and meaning. I am so ready. How about you? Be richly blessed, my dear friend! You are worthy of God’s love and grace.
