Fretting Less by Trusting God More
As the Coronavirus is spreading like crazy, many are getting anxious. I think it is wise to wash your hands and do everything you can to prevent the disease as much as possible. But our life or death are not in our own hands. Hence it’s time to start fretting less by trusting God more.
Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always]. (Col. 3:15, AMP,*)
If we believe our God is sovereign, we need to live that out. And if we believe our life and death are in God’s hands, we need to start fretting less by trusting God more. I know it might sound too simplistic but faith is simple. We either believe or not. Then we just need to live out our faith.
How do we do that, you ask. The more completely we are surrendered to Jesus and his will, the more peaceful we become. On our own, we fret. We can’t get rid of anxious thoughts with our own power. But when we seek first Jesus and surrender to him, we receive such peace that transcends understanding. We do fret less when we trust God more.
Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.] (John 14:27, AMP,*)
Fretting less by Trusting God more
The Coronavirus provides us a way to put this in practice. We can learn to trust God more by making sure we surrender ourselves and our anxious thoughts to Jesus every morning. And every time a thought full of worry presents itself, we dump it at the cross again and again. We need to stop entertaining anxious thoughts but pass them on right away to Jesus. He can handle them, we can’t. So let’s get rid of them in prayer as soon as they appear. Again and again, until we get hang of it.
This will change your life, trust me. When we finally understand Jesus really does carry our burdens and we start taking him up on his promise, we can finally live in peace no matter what happens around us. We are in God’s hands now and forever. Nothing can change that. So it’s always a good time to rejoice and praise God. Let’s do just that.
Gracious God,
Thank for being such an amazing God.
Forgive us for forgetting your gifts and promises.
We surrender to you.
Help us to live out our faith and trust your promises.
We give you all our anxieties, worries, burdens and troubles.
And we receive your love, grace, and peace.
Thank you for always taking care of us.
Fretting less by trusting God more is truly possible.
Be blessed and praised forever and ever!
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
Q4U: Are you anxious about the Coronavirus? How do you handle it?
Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim and cast all your cares at the foot of the cross!
