The Comfort of God’s Presence

The Comfort of God’s Presence

The comfort of God's presence

When a tragedy strikes, people don’t need words, they just want somebody to be there for them, right? So let’s not stress about what to say, let’s just be there for them. Isn’t it amazing how we are comforted through the presence of others? Just think how much more the comfort of God’s presence will do wonders in our lives.

So we all need comfort from time to time. We don’t – even though we might think so – need explanations or plans or reasons in order to be comforted, we just need someone to be with us. And that’s exactly what Jesus does. He doesn’t provide an explanation for us, but he provides comfort. He gives himself. His presence fills us with grace and peace. And the comfort of God’s presence is priceless.

For He has said, “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!” So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently say, “The Lord is my Helper [in time of need], I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5b-6, AMP, emphasis added)

The comfort of God’s presence

It’s amazing when we are in Jesus’ presence, there is no more need for explanations or reasons or plans. We have everything we need in Jesus. Things will eventually, in God’s time, get better. But for then and there, we can be healed by the comfort of God’s presence.

God has promised to always be with us. We can count on that. Hence we can be bold and fearless. We can live boldly knowing we will not be abandoned and we can always count on Jesus’ help. That does change everything, doesn’t it? We are not orphaned or abandoned. Instead, we are beloved children of God who can enjoy the comfort of God’s presence at any time.

Dear God,
Thank you for always being there for us.
Help us to remember the privileges of your children and stake our lives on your promises.
Remind us of your power and might so we dare to live boldly for you.
Comfort us, help us, lead us according to your plan for us.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Have you experienced the comfort of God’s presence? Has it changed how you live?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you dare to believe God is always with you!
