Tune in to God
Are you rushing around like crazy? Unfortunately, many of us do. But, you know, that way we rush through our whole lives without savoring them. It is time to take back our lives. We don’t have to rush around without purpose. There is time for everything. Especially for lingering in God’s presence and listening to him. Hence do not rush, tune in to God.
How then to slow down? C.S. Lewis guides us this way “It comes the very moment you wake up each morning. All your wishes and hopes for the day rush at you like wild animals. And the first job each morning consists simply in shoving them all back; in listening to that other voice, taking that other point of view, letting that other larger, stronger, quieter life come flowing in. And so on, all day. Standing back from all your natural fussings and frettings; coming in out of the wind.”
Tune in to God
Yes, it comes down to whom we listen. And, yes, it starts the minute we wake up in the morning. Do we let worries, plans, fears, desires take over our lives? Or do we tune in to God and listen to his voice? The latter is the blessed way, of course. We need to train ourselves to tune in to God though, otherwise, our wishes and fears run our lives like wild animals. And we all know how that ends up, don’t we?
Be still before the Lord; wait patiently for Him and entrust yourself to Him;
Do not fret (whine, agonize) because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.
Cease from anger and abandon wrath;
Do not fret; it leads only to evil.
For those who do evil will be cut off,
But those who wait for the Lord, they will inherit the land.
(Psalm 37:7-9, AMP,*)
Enjoy life with God
If I take time to tune in to God in the morning by reading the word of God, praying and listening to what God has for me that day, my day goes much better than when I give in to my own whims. When I do tune in to God, his life flows in me and I won’t rush through my day without living it. We really do not need to fuss and fret, we can just lean on God and seize each and every day. And enjoy life with God.
Gracious God,
Help us to stop rushing around and slow down.
Enable us to tune our wishes and wants out
and listen to your guidance.
You know what’s best for us,
do not let anything to interfere with your plan for us.
Pour out peace upon peace, joy upon you,
each and every day.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you tune in to God and let him guide you!
