The Best Bargain of All
Sometimes we overlook things that we are familiar with. We are more excited about things that seem to be exotic. Like Christianity might feel boring to you if you’ve grown up with it. You look into mindfulness to look for peace and you forget that the prince of peace is Jesus himself. You forget that he gave his all that we could have all. That’s the best bargain of all.
You are familiar with the generosity of our Master, Jesus Christ. Rich as he was, he gave it all away for us—in one stroke he became poor and we became rich. (2 Cor. 8:9, MSG,*)
The best bargain of all
Black Friday deals want you to believe they’re the best bargain of all. But nothing you hunt down today (or in your lifetime) will ever beat what the original black Friday (Good Friday) brought us: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16, NIV,*)
Jesus died on the cross for all your sins (100%) so you could have eternal life for free (-100%). There will never be a better bargain. I hope you do not overlook it but receive it with gladness. And, please, do not shelf the gift but use it daily. I guarantee nothing will ever make you happier.
Gracious God,
Thank you for sending Jesus,
the best bargain of all.
Enable us to see the value of your gift.
Show us how to use it daily.
In Jesus’ precious name,
Amen
Q4U: Have you embraced the best bargain of all?
Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you celebrate Jesus every day of your life!
* [As you might have noticed, I enjoy reading the Bible in different translations and love comparing them. I have started linking the Bible verses toBiblegateway.com so you can easily read (and compare) them in the different versions I’ve used while preparing each post.].

Mari-Anna, I am so glad we were side by side this morning. My intention was to research after linking, if the word ‘familiar’ was in Scripture 🙂 Your post, sweet friend, provided the answer. Grateful this morning for the greatest Gift of all!
Glad I was able to answer your question! Thanks so much, Joanne. Have a blessed weekend!
Wonderful post Mari-Anna,
I am so happy that I have found my home in Jesus. It is now very familiar.

Thanks, Janis. So glad you’ve found your home in Jesus. And when that home feels familiar and homy – nothing better! Blessings to you!
So true- we should never let our familiarity with what Jesus has done lessen our appreciation. We should always remember how amazing it is!

Well-said! I try to embrace this gift, every day. Usually I don’t do so well, but it doesn’t stop me trying.
