Claim Your Spot in God’s Presence
Today’s word for the Five Minute Friday blog challenge is park. I love parks but I don’t want to write about parks. Instead, I want to urge you to position yourself in God’s presence. Once you’ve learned to establish yourself in a sense of God’s presence, put up a sign stating “Park yourself here”. Because there’s no better place than that. In God’s presence is fullness of joy.
You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.
(Psalm 16:11, AMP,*)
Establish yourself in the presence of God
Brother Lawrence’s inspiring, almost 300 years old book The Practice of the Presence of God is still probably one of the best on the subject. He writes “I cannot imagine how religious persons can live satisfied without the practice of the presence of GOD. For my part I keep myself retired with Him in the depth of centre of my soul as much as I can; and while I am so with Him I fear nothing; but the least turning from Him is insupportable.”
Just like Brother Lawrence’s, also my aim in life is to have a continual conversation with God. Today, I challenge you to do the same. Establish yourself in the presence of God. Claim your spot. Park yourself there. Enjoy God’s presence. All the time. Learn to live there. After all, it is your home.
Gracious God,
I want to live in you and converse with you
while I cook, while I work, while I shop.
Lord, become my everything.
In your presence is the fullness of joy.
I want that; I want you.
In Jesus’ precious name,
Amen
Q4U: Have you claimed your spot in God’s presence?
Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you establish yourself in God’s presence!
* [As you might have noticed, I enjoy reading the Bible in different translations and love comparing them. I have started linking the Bible verses toBiblegateway.com so you can easily read (and compare) them in the different versions I’ve used while preparing each post.].

I love it when I’m reminded that I have God’s unwavering attention. I’m the one who wanders and forgets!
It is wonderful to know God is always waiting for us. Thanks, Michele! Have a blessed weekend!
Fear nothing when surrounded by God. Indeed
Amen. Thanks for chiming in, Annette! Abundant blessings to you!
Might be the other way ’round for me, Mari-Anna…while I was lying on the floor weeping from physical pain that had become unbearable, He seems to have moved in, and is never far away.
#1 at FMF this week.

Yes, God also finds us when we don’t even know we’re lost. No matter how we look at it, it’s always God first. How blessed we are! Thanks for dropping by, Andrew. Blessings upon blessings!
