Raise Me Up, Lord!
Are you in need of a boost? Too worried of this or that? Or maybe just plain exhausted after trying everything and still nothing seems to work out? This post is a gentle reminder for you to rest in God’s arms and not to worry. If you are a child of God, all is well… even when it does not look like it. We might be at the end of our rope…but God’s possibilities are endless. Hang in there, friend. God is with you at this very minute.
Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
look at the earth beneath;
the heavens will vanish like smoke,
the earth will wear out like a garment
and its inhabitants die like flies.
But my salvation will last forever,
my righteousness will never fail.
(Isaiah 51:6, NIV,*)
The first step to peace is to lift up your eyes from your troubles and look at Jesus instead. That’s where your help comes from. Time after time. Rest in that knowledge. Surrender to Jesus and wait for good because he is good. Jesus is the bridge over troubled water.
When I am down, and, oh, my soul, so weary
When troubles come, and my heart burdened be
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence
Until you come and sit awhile with me
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
I am strong when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be
There is no life, no life without its hunger
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly
But then you come, and I am filled with wonder
Sometimes I think I glimpse eternity
Gracious God,
I need you,
come and lift me up.
Let me feel your presence,
may your will be done in my life.
Surround me with your grace,
give me your peace.
Raise me up to be more I can be.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
Q4U: What does lift you out of a funk?
Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you* [As you might have noticed, I enjoy reading the Bible in different translations and love comparing them. I have started linking the Bible verses to Biblegateway.com so you can easily read (and compare) them in the different versions I’ve used while preparing each post.].
