Treasures Hidden in Jesus

Treasures Hidden in Jesus

treasures hidden in JesusToo often these days the name of Jesus does not evoke reverence and awe in us. We take Jesus granted or don’t recognise the amazing things Jesus really brings into our lives. We are ignorant of treasures hidden in Jesus.

What could be so amazing about Jesus? First of all, through Jesus we get to know God Almighty. There’s no other way to God than Jesus. But even that’s not all, folks! We are called to personally know Christ. And when we do that, we will be immensely blessed.

My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. (Col. 2:2-3, NIV, emphasis added,*)

Knowing Christ is the root for all the blessings in life because in Christ are hidden God’s amazing treasures. The more we get to know Christ, the more blessed we are. Because without Christ we don’t know even ourselves. But with him we have abundant life.

For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God. (Col.3:3, AMP,emphasis added*)

Our real life is hidden with Christ in God as well. Some part of our identity remains hidden until we discover our true identity hidden in Jesus. But we are invited to abide in Jesus 24/7. We are called to dwell in God all the time. We are welcome to rest in the Holy Spirit all the days of our lives.

Whatever the question, the answer is Jesus. It is a bold statement but it is true. All our treasures are hidden in Jesus. All we need is Jesus. Anything and everything else is just one of many details in life.

The bottom line is this: Jesus brings life. Jesus saves us from sins. Jesus restores. Jesus heals. Jesus guides. Jesus laughs with us, weeps with us. Jesus was crucified, died and was buried. But he was also resurrected. Jesus really lives. And with him we do the same.

Gracious God,
Forgive us for ignoring your blessings,
taking Jesus for granted,
forgetting about what’s important in life.
Change what needs to be changed,
Cleanse what needs to be cleansed,
Restore what needs to be restored.
Thank you for your wisdom to hide treasures in Jesus.
Thank you that anyone who seeks you,
will find you.
Thank you for blessing us;
make us blessings to others.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
Q4U:  Have you found treasures hidden in Jesus?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you find all there is hidden in Jesus!

* [As you might have noticed, I enjoy reading the Bible in different translations and love comparing them. I have started linking the Bible verses to Biblegateway.com so you can easily read (and compare) them in the different versions I’ve used while preparing each post.].
