2 Questions to Check Your Spiritual Life
It’s fun to break free from routines during holidays, isn’t it? Freedom from routines sure is a blessing. Time to wind down, rest and relax. But routines also bless us, they keep us on the right track. Also in our spiritual lives. Here are two questions to check your spiritual life in order to know if it’s time to re-embrace some of your spiritual routines.
- Are you getting easily irritated? Do your relatives, family members, friends drive you increasingly, uncharacteristicly crazy? If yes, it’s time to have some one-on-one time with Jesus. And fast. You are not filled with grace anymore, you badly need a refill.
Jesus is calling your name: Come to me, all you who are struggling hard and carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28, CEB)
2. Are you discouraged? Do you feel the weight of the whole world on your back? If yes, it’s time to head to the cross. And dump those burdens of yours at the feet of the cross. Those burdens are not yours to carry, Jesus has already done it for you. Let Jesus take your troubles and receive peace, joy, and love.
Even if you are on vacation, take care of your spiritual needs. Even if you’re having the time of your life, don’t forget your time alone with Jesus. Spiritual well-being is the source of your well-being. And Jesus is the source of your spiritual well-being. Jesus is the way to wholeness. So check your spiritual life and take action.
Spending time with Jesus is the only way to be refreshed (and not exhausted) after your vacation. Spending time with Jesus is also the only way to be content (and not worn-out) after a hard week. Spending time with Jesus is such a small thing, yet it has a massive impact on our lives. For the better.
Gracious God,
You’re calling us to abundant life
yet we stay away from you.
Forgive us.
Give us rest and restoration in you.
Build us up, fill us with your amazing grace.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
Q4U: How do you check your spiritual life? Did these two questions reveal the state of your spiritual life?
Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you regularly spend one-on-one time with Jesus!
