The Case of Wild Grace

The Case of Wild Grace

Okay. I thought I’d better explain why I am so in love with Wild Grace! (Romans 5:1, MSG) pretty much sums up the case of Wild Grace:

By entering through faith into what God has always wanted to do for us—set us right with him, make us fit for him—we have it all together with God because of our Master Jesus. And that’s not all: We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that he has already thrown open his door to us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand—out in the wide open spaces of God’s grace and glory, standing tall and shouting our praise.

God’s gift of grace for us is to get set right with our Heavenly Father through faith in Jesus Christ. We are all sinners and could not ever be right with God on our own. But because of Jesus we have an access to be in a father-child relationship with our God. Amazing! Wonderful! Powerful! Christ gets us out of death into life! And what life!

This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?” God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. (Rom. 8:15, MSG)

When I was a newbie professor I kept a sticky note on my computer proclaiming: WILD GRACE. It constantly reminded me of God’s presence, God’s perspective on things, God’s power and God’s will in my life. I felt strongly called to my position but it felt overwhelming sometimes. Then my eyes would wander to my sticky note and be reminded of God’s wild grace. That the Spirit of God could do anything. That the Spirit of God could transform me, a legal alien, to touch students’ hearts and bless them with God’s love. I was empowered by Wild Grace.

God’s wild grace will empower all of us to do what he is asking us to do. No matter where we are called or what we are called to do, God will equip us, nourish us and empower us to go and live our everyday life fully for him. We are invited to live in God’s grace. We are invited to continually have a conversation with God. We are invited to rest in God as we go about our everyday life.
Don’t be worried, don’t be discouraged. God is with you wherever you go!

Here are some encouraging Corrie Ten Boom quotes to accompany you on your faith journey today:
“Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.”
“It is not my ability, but my response to God’s ability, that counts.”
“Trying to do the Lord’s work in your own strength is the most confusing, exhausting, and tedious of all work. But when you are filled with the Holy Spirit, then the ministry of Jesus just flows out of you.”

Gracious God,
Thank you for
your wild grace!
Thank you for
saving us,
empowering us,
sustaining us,
loving us,
taking care of us.
Help us to
always rest in you,
always work in you,
always live in you.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Be blessed & Praise the Lord!
