Realize the Fullness of Christ
Do you realize the fullness of Christ? Do you live it?
School’s out; quit studying faith and start living it!
You have received Christ; now live him.
Put what you have learned in practice and live large.
Do everything in him and let your living spill over into thanksgiving.
My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: Just go ahead with what you’ve been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him. You’re deeply rooted in him. You’re well constructed upon him. You know your way around the faith. Now do what you’ve been taught. School’s out; quit studying the subject and start living it! And let your living spill over into thanksgiving. (Colossians 2: 6-7, MSG)
You have come to fullness in Christ, you don’t lack anything. When you are in Christ, you have everything you need. Because of God’s approval, you don’t need other people’s approvals. You are free in Christ. Because of God’s love, you are not desperate for other people’s love. You are free in Christ.
Now put that freedom in practice. Live large. Laugh loud. Love big. And always abide in Christ. That’s when you are happiest. That’s how you are empowered. That’s what’s living abundantly is all about.
Watch out for people who try to dazzle you with big words and intellectual double-talk. They want to drag you off into endless arguments that never amount to anything. They spread their ideas through the empty traditions of human beings and the empty superstitions of spirit beings. But that’s not the way of Christ. Everything of God gets expressed in him, so you can see and hear him clearly. You don’t need a telescope, a microscope, or a horoscope to realize the fullness of Christ, and the emptiness of the universe without him. When you come to him, that fullness comes together for you, too. His power extends over everything. (Colossians 2:8-10, MSG)
The fullness of Christ is available for everyone who wants to believe. When the Holy Spirit lives in us, we are experiencing the way of salvation. We don’t need a telescope, a microscope, or a horoscope to find God and realize the fullness of Christ. We don’t need to discover mysteries or special experiences to discover the divine secret. It’s already out and open for everyone. The mystery of God is revealed in Jesus. Nothing else, nothing more, nothing less.
The way of Christ leads us into abundant life. There is no other way but Jesus. Our choice: the emptiness of the universe without Christ. Or everything coming together for us in Christ Jesus. That choice is easy for me. It’s Jesus. It’s Jesus today, tomorrow and forevermore. Because his power extends over everything. In him I have life and more life. In him I have come to fullness. Without him I am empty and lost. I don’t want that. I want to live large, laugh loud and love big. Only in Jesus. But abundantly in him. Thank you, Jesus!
