Our God is an amazing God. So generous, so loving, so kind. Yet, somehow, we live many times like orphans. Like we’d be left all alone in this world to get by the best we can. But that is not so. The Bible tells us so. Jesus lives in us. The Holy Spirit is always with us. So we are to live like beloved children, not like orphans. It’s time to live like an heir! How do we do that?

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.¹⁵ So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” ¹⁶ For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. ¹⁷ And since we are his children, we are his heirs. (Romans 8:14-17a, NLT)

We need to learn to live with God 24/7. If we look at prayer as a tool of communication and not as a performance, we can learn to pray continually. Jesus is with you all the time. Hence he knows your circumstances, he knows what you’re going through. He knows you and he wants to help you. But too often we ignore him and go on our own way. It is sad, especially if we do it because we don’t know there is another way.

Like Like an Heir

Because there is a better way: the Jesus way. And believe me, Jesus is easy to live with. So let’s not ignore him but invite him into the midst of our lives. Jesus wants to be gracious to us, he wants to help us. So let’s let him help us. He has everything we need. And then some.

Just as you can’t save yourself, you can’t sustain yourself. You were created to receive grace upon grace. And as you know, grace is pardon but also power for living. So keep on receiving. It’s your privilege as a child of God. Do not even try to live without Jesus.

Life with Jesus is better than anything I know. Just think, he is sitting right next to you on your sofa and asking about your day. Or when you go through some health struggles, Jesus is holding your hand. This is the new reality to all believers. Every promise in the Bible is true. And they are yours in Jesus. So live in this reality and live like an heir you are and rejoice always.

Help us to remember you’re always with us.
Show us how to live the Jesus way.
