Process Your Life with God

Process your life with God

I often talk about life with God because living with God gives your life colors. Often I have struggled to convey to you how to do it in real life and then God provided a perfect teachable moment last week. My family was deeply disappointed with the canceled year in Africa as I wrote in my previous blog post. This experience allowed me to re-experience what it is to process your life with God.

When your life is turned upside down for any reason, positive thinking will not get you out of the rut. But sharing the experience with God will do it. I surrendered the situation to God right away, I’ve learned that’s the best way to go about disappointments. But it’s important to understand that we are not to deny our feelings but to bring also them to God as they arise.

When we cry to God and tell him how we feel, we invite God in the midst of our suffering whether it’s big or small. Rarely we get answers right away but God hears and comforts us. When you process your life with God, you can trust the answers will come in time.

So this past weekend I kept talking to God, sharing my raw feelings and questions about the future. I wanted to process my life with my God and it felt good to be able to do so even though there were no answers. But I was heard. And miraculously I was filled with new hope.

For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. (Jeremiah 29:11, NRSV,*)

Process your life with God

This hope is not of me. It’s God’s miraculous work in me. This happens when we linger in God’s presence. I still don’t have any answers but I do have hope. In my spirit, I know 100% certain God has something amazing in store for me. Not necessarily in the world’s standards but it will be the ultimate best for me as I continue to follow Jesus.

So please process your life with God. Dare to be yourself with God. Let him see to the depts of your soul. He knows what you need and when you need it. Life with God is the best there is. Faith is meant to be lived out, it’s not a myth, it’s a dynamic way of life with God.

Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:23, NRSV)

Gracious God,
Thank you for providing a safe place to be ourselves.
You see our lives, our problems, our questions,
we give them to you.
We want to process our life with you.
Thank you for letting us feel whatever we feel.
Let us feel your love and care.
Fill us with your hope, Lord.
We need you.
Thanks for wanting to share our life with you.
Bless us according to your plan for us.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
