Boldness

Boldness

BoldnessHappy New Year, dear friends of Flowing Faith! What’s your word for 2016? I’ve been praying for mine for weeks. (If you’re interested in finding out yours and don’t know how to go about it, my blogging friend Lisa has a great post about the process.) Eventually, I was lead to word ‘boldness’.

It is a bit scary word. But after my year of ‘readiness’ it is a very logical one. Without readiness there could not be boldness. And all this in God’s time, God’s way, and with God’s grace-filled resources.

On the day I called, You answered me;
And You made me bold and confident with [renewed] strength in my life.
(Psalm 138:3, AMP,*)

So I do not worry about this. God will provide everything I need to be bold. I could not do that on my own. But it’s very easy for him. So I lean on him and will enjoy the ride.

Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. (2 Cor. 3:12, NIV,*)

Andrew Murray encourages us this way “Do not strive in your own strength; cast yourself at the feet of the Lord Jesus, and wait upon Him in the sure confidence that He is with you, and works in you. Strive in prayer; let faith fill your heart-so will you be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.”

I am looking forward to seeing God’s power at work in and through me. Nothing better in my book. Just think of the apostles in action. They spoke of Jesus with boldness. Not because they were educated or any other way amazing. But because the Holy Spirit filled them with faith, joy, and boldness. We are all called to do the same wherever we are. With the words of Charles Stanley “His voice leads us not into timid discipleship but into bold witness.”

So, by God’s grace, 2016 will be a year of boldness. Are you ready to let the Holy Spirit take over your life? I am. Come, Lord Jesus! All for God’s glory!

Gracious God,
Thanks for calling us to be your partners.
Fill us with your Spirit, Lord.
Make us bold for you.
May your will happen in and through our lives.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: What’s your word for 2016? You’re welcome to use boldness as your word!

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you embrace 2016 with boldness!

  1. Boldness! I’m excited for you!
My “word” this year is actually a question. I’ve been asking myself about my breakneck scheduling and my over the top multitasking for quite a while now, and the question that has distilled itself into my living is this: What’s your hurry? God has all eternity to work His purposes in me. He’s in charge of time. All of my time is a gift from Him. I need to change my attitude!
    Blessings and Happy New Year!

    1. Yes, it is exciting. Thank you, Michele. I like your approach to 2016 too. It’ so important to let God be in charge of our time and energy and projects and all. He knows best and he gives us adequate rest too. I’d love to hear some time how you’re doing with the question. Abundant rest-filled blessings!
