Go to God
Last night my new class called Faith in Everyday Life started. I had been anticipating, praying and preparing for it for quite some time now. The class was well attended and it was a huge blessing to see how much enthusiasm for learning and growing in grace there was.
One thing always amazes me after a speaking engagement is that I feel myself so empty. Peaceful but empty. Blessed but empty. Fulfilled but empty.
Today it’s time for my own rest and restoration. But I don’t need to do that on my own. I can go to God as I am, no need to fake that I am energized when I am not.
God’s presence is the best place to be no matter what you’re feeling or going through. God knows you and your situation. He can make you whole again with his specially targeted grace. Just go to God.
And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:19, AMP)
So I’ve sipping my tea and spending some time alone with God. Talking to God about the class last night, about the people who attended. About giving my best and leaving the rest to him. Praising him for his faithfulness. Thanking for his love and grace, for calling all of us his beloved.
As we talked back and forth, I felt uplifted. I am not alone. I can bring my emptiness to God to be filled with his grace. There’s always as much grace as we need. We just need to go to God for it.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:6-7, NIV)
That’s the trick, folks. We need to go to God no matter what. Too often we try to manage on our own. We’d like to show God or other people or ourselves that we are not that dependent on God. But that’s the truth anyway. There’s no abundant life apart from God. But with God, we are truly blessed every day of our lives. And beyond.
Gracious God,
You are so good to me.
Thank you for taking care of me,
giving me always what I need.
Renew me for your service, Lord.
Bless everyone who reads this.
Be praised forever and ever!
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
Q4U: Do you go to God often? How/where do you spend time with God?
Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you seek Him with everything you’ve got.
