How to Deal with Doubt

How to Deal with Doubt

how to deal with doubtDo you ever have doubts? How do you deal with them? This is crucial in your life of faith. Because we all have doubts occasionally. We just need to know what to do with them, right? Because of Christ we don’t need to give in. What to do then?

The main thing is to give your doubts to Jesus. They don’t surprise him. And he has already conquered them, every single one.

Give your doubts to Jesus and watch them to disappear. Whenever we remember to turn to Jesus, we are victorious. Because Jesus has won all the sorrow, all the despair, all the doubts, all the bad stuff by dying on the cross and being raised up by his Father.

So whenever in doubt, turn to Jesus. Give whatever is troubling you to Jesus and start praising God for his goodness. Doubts will flea.

No doubt about it! God is good—
good to good people, good to the good-hearted.
But I nearly missed it,
    missed seeing his goodness.
(Psalm 73:1-2, MSG,*)

But it’s also important to learn to prevent doubts. And that happens by not feeding doubts but your faith. And how do you feed your faith? By reading the Word of God. By spending time with God. By doing things that strengthen your faith like gathering with other Christians, worshiping, reading devotionals that remind you of what is important in life.

When we continually feed our faith and bring our doubts and questions to Jesus, we learn to take everything with serenity. We know God is on our side, there’s no reason whatsoever to be agitated. We know Jesus is alive and by God’s grace so are we. And even better things ahead. And there’s no doubt about it!

Gracious God,
Thanks for being bigger than our doubts.
Thanks for conquering all the bad stuff in the world.
Show us how to doubt our doubts
and feed our faith.
Help us to trust you so completely
that we can live serenely.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: How do you deal with doubts?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you learn to doubt your doubts and feed your faith!

* [As you might have noticed, I enjoy reading the Bible in different translations and love comparing them. I have started linking the Bible verses to Biblegateway.com so you can easily read (and compare) them in the different versions I’ve used while preparing each post.].

  1. I have cried out to him in prayer and told God my deepest feelings when I have doubted. Then I continue to seek him. He will never leave or forsake us! I love the verse that you tied in with your post! Great message!

  2. So glad that God is bigger than our doubts. I know that mine don’t always flee the first time, but knowing that I can bring them to Him over and over, with persistence in prayer, helps me to learn that they are well handled in His able hands. Visiting from #FMF today. Blessings!
