Note to Self: I Am God’s Beloved

Note to Self: I Am God’s Beloved

God's BelovedHere’s what you need to know today and every day for the rest of your life: you are God’s beloved. Nothing will ever change it. You are God’s beloved, that’s your identity.

For the Lord your God is living among you.
    He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.
(Zephaniah 3:17, NLT)

David G. Benner writes “What a different relationship begins to develop when you realize that God is head-over-heels in love with you. God is simply giddy about you. He just can’t help loving you. And he loves you deeply, recklessly and extravagantly-just as you are.”

You are God’s beloved. God is in love with you. He really wants to be in a loving relationship with you. How do you respond? Is the idea too out there? Pedro Arrupe (1907-1991) assures us this way:

Nothing is more practical than finding God,
that is, falling in love in a quite absolute, final way.
What you are in love with,
what seizes your imagination,
will affect everything.
It will decide
what gets you out of bed in the morning,
what you will do with your evenings,
how you will spend your weekends,
what you read, who you know,
what breaks your heart,
and what amazes you with joy and gratitude.
Fall in love, stay in love,
and it will decide everything.

Being in love with God does change everything. For better. How to go about it then? How can we fall in love with God, again or for the first time? Talk to him. Listen. Ask him to ignite his fire in you. Read the word of God. Spend time with him. Bask in his love. Revel in his presence. Enjoy his company. Live like God’s beloved!

Gracious God,
Your love towards me is amazing.
I don’t deserve it yet you love me with wild abandonment.
Make me worthy of your love.
Pour out love upon love, Lord.
I want to be forever in love with you.
Make it so, Lord.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you know that you’re God’s beloved? Are you in love with God?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you fall in love with God over and over again!

    Many Blessings friend

  2. I’m finally starting to get a glimpse of how much He love me. It’s taken a long time! Thanks for sharing a great word.
