How to Have Peace of Mind

How to Have Peace of Mind

How to have peace of mindDo you desire to have peace of mind? I think we all do. When we have peace of mind, we are happy. It is that wonderful feeling when you know all is well and all is going to be all right.

But how to have it in the midst of every day chaos? How to have it as the world gets tougher day by day? How to have peace of mind when it seems all we have is the opposite? Is peace of mind even possible any more?

Peace is possible. But only through faith in Jesus. This is something people don’t want to accept. They want peace of mind on their own terms and that’s when things start going wrong.

People want to manage their sin, not to repent and be forgiven and healed.
People want to have relief from sin but not the only cure available that’s readily offered to anyone who asks for it.

Because that would mean they would turn to Christ without veto power. They would need to trust God. And trust does not come easily to people these days, doesn’t it? But trusting God is the way to peace of mind. There’s no way around it.

Elizabeth Elliot reminds us “Restlessness and impatience change nothing except our peace and joy. Peace does not dwell in outward things, but in the heart prepared to wait trustfully and quietly on Him who has all things safely in His hands.”

Know, recognize, and understand therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, Who keeps covenant and steadfast love and mercy with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations. (Deuteronomy 7:8, AMP)

When we trust God, we dare to admit who we are and what’s wrong with us.
When we trust God, we dare to ask for forgiveness.
And when we do, we receive not only pardon but future in God.
And peace upon peace.

Gracious God,
We so desire to have peace of mind.
Forgive us for looking for it in all the wrong places.
We come to you as we are and
ask you to forgive our sins and
make us yours.
Show us what it is to live in you,
to enjoy your presence
and peace of mind.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: How have you received peace of mind?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you dare to admit your need for Christ and seek forgiveness and receive peace of mind in the process!

  1. When I struggle with mistakes and feeling like I’ve let God down, I realize that what I need is peace in my life- the peace only He can give. I just need to accept it as a gift from Him! Thank you for these words today:)
