When You Have Lost That Loving Feeling

When You Have Lost That Loving Feeling

lost that loving feelingDo you know what to do when you’ve lost that loving feeling? The answer is not to give up. Feelings come and go. The answer is simple yet profound and it totally works. The answer is to pray, to ask for what you need.

Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
(Matthew 7:7-11,NLT,*)

Too often we think we should not talk to God about our love life. That God wouldn’t be interested in that. But we could not be more wrong. You see, God loves to pour out love upon love on us. We just need to ask for it. Hence, whenever you feel like you’ve lost that loving feeling, ask for more love and you will receive it.

That’s the secret of long lasting love. Not the perfect partner. Not the easy life. Not the Hollywood-like romance. The secret of long lasting love is God whom is love himself. And he adores to pour out love upon love on anyone who asks. Try it. And be ready to receive love upon love. Soon you have that loving feeling again.

Gracious God,
Thank you for being the answer for our needs.
Thank you for being love and wanting to give love to us.
Pour out love upon love on our marriages.
Bless us with that loving feeling.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: What do you do when you’ve lost that loving feeling?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you learn to ask for love and receive it with open arms!

* [As you might have noticed, I enjoy reading the Bible in different translations and love comparing them. I have started linking the Bible verses to Biblegateway.com so you can easily read (and compare) them in the different versions I’ve used while preparing each post.]

  1. What a timely post! The Holy Spirit never ceases to amaze me! He spoke so clearly to me through this post. Thank you. I’m your neighbor at #FMFparty! Grace and peace!

  2. I was talking to my friend the other day about this. I’m not one to lose a loving feeling. Once you’re in with me, you’re pretty solid.

However, if there are other things to drive us apart, eventually the loving feeling will vanish. But that’s not losing love. That’s losing everything – and the last to go is love.

So, when I have lost that loving feeling, I know that I’ve lost everything.

So I pray for continued communication, understanding and the ability (on my part as well as his #sigh) to compromise without resentment. Then there will be no WHEN.

Thanks so much for your thoughts!

    #xoxo

  3. I loved the encouragement I found here just what I needed today. We do need to go to God with our feelings. Thanks for the reminder and we do have a God that cares.

  4. I learned a few years ago that I needed to stop watching romantic comedies because they portray love in an unrealistic way and if you focus on it too much it can make you unhappy. I love the way you link the verse up! Visiting from Faith Filled Friday

  5. Mari-Anna happy to have come over from FMF. The title grabbed my attention as I just published a post with nearly the same title. Indeed, when we ask according to his will, he hears and answers our petitions. Be blessed today.
