Be Fully Alive

Be Fully Alive

Openhearted living is what God wants for us. He wants us to be fully alive, living in grace and loving him and each other. The enemy wants exactly the opposite. He wants us to be separated from God and other people. He wants us to build walls around our hearts. He wants to kill an destroy all the goodness in our lives.

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). (John 10:10,AMP)

There’s a battle going on in our lives. But because of Jesus we don’t need to live separated from God and other people. Because of Jesus we can freely approach God and ask for his grace for openhearted living. Because of Jesus we have been taught how to heal. The Wall Around Your Heart

Mary DeMuth in her fabulous new book The Wall Around Your Heart  writes “When we pray, “Rescue us from the evil one,” we put ourselves on the battlefront where we risk getting hurt again. We allow God access to the walls around our hearts, daring to declare, “Take down the bricks, whatever it takes.” We usher in a new life, an openhearted way of relating to people that expands the kingdom of God”.

Mary continues “I know you’re afraid. But you need not be. Jesus is bigger than any pain someone can inflict. But we live as if that’s not true. We live as if Jesus is smaller than the pain, which is why we no longer trust Him to protect our hearts.”

It’s time for us to put our beliefs in practice. It is time to  be bold because Jesus is bigger than any pain we can ever experience. It’s time to be fully alive.

Gracious God,
Thank you for being bigger than any pain I can ever experience.
Enable me to believe this with every fiber of my being
and then boldly put it in practice.
Make me fully alive in Christ,
tear down all my walls around my heart.
Empower me to love you above else
and everyone else like myself.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Do you have walls around your heart? Are you ready to take them down by God’s grace?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you boldly embrace openhearted living!

  1. I’m all for doing whatever we have to do to live the abundant life Jesus promised! It’s hard sometimes, scary sometimes, painful sometimes. But it is so worth it. Great post, Mari-Anna!
