Sensitive and Responsive to God

Sensitive and Responsive to God

Sensitive and responsive to God
Our heart is the place where we meet our God. Hence it is the most precious place. That’s why we need to watch over our heart with everything we got. Because without a heart responsive to God we are not alive anymore.

Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life. (Proverbs 4:3, AMP)

When our heart is sensitive and responsive to God, all is well. But, as we know, life is messy. Stuff happens and we somehow, along the way, forget to guard our heart. We might watch things that are not good for our heart. We might make ourselves too busy for a healthy heart. And then we wonder why our life is not overflowing of peace and happiness.

I hope this summer you can take some time to take care of your heart. Because that’s where life starts. Laugh, play, reconnect with God. Relax, pray, refresh your heart and soul.

All the good things get their start in your heart: hope, faith, love. Because God resides there. This meeting place for you and your God is such a precious place that it should be your utmost honor to take care of it. Don’t let your heart get hardened.

Even if your heart is in ruins, don’t despair. God is able to restore any heart when we give all the pieces to him. When we come back to God, he renews our heart. He can even replace our unnaturally hardened heart with a sensitive heart responsive to the touch of our God. If you don’t believe me, read yourself:

And I will give them one heart [a new heart] and I will put a new spirit within them; and I will take the stony [unnaturally hardened] heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh [sensitive and responsive to the touch of their God],That they may walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances, and do them. And they shall be My people, and I will be their God. (Ezekiel 11:19-20, AMP)

Our God is amazing. But so is our heart where he meets us. This gracious gift comes with responsibility. We are to take good care of our heart. When we keep our heart sweet and sensitive to God, we are truly alive.

Gracious God,
We thank you for giving us hearts where you meet us.
We bring our hearts to you for renewal.
Show us how to keep them sensitive and responsive to you.
Teach us how to guard them with all vigilance.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

  1. I couldn’t leave a comment earlier (my iPad just doesn’t cooperate with blogging needs), so coming back again. How do I guard my heart? I’m realizing more and more that time in His word daily is needed. There are days when I push Him to the side, but when I do this my heart is exposed. I need to meet God every morning and I’m so grateful He is there waiting. Loved this—>”God is able to restore any heart when we give all the pieces to him.”
    Blessings to you,
    Beth
