Stop Doubting and Believe!

Stop Doubting and Believe!

Stop doubting and believe. God will not forget you.
Christmas is gone. What to do now? Should we still sing for joy? Should we still exalt God, give him glory?

Well, yes, of course.

Heavens, raise the roof! Earth, wake the dead!
    Mountains, send up cheers!
(Isaiah 49:12, MSG)

What if you feel that you’ve been forgotten? What if Christmas was just an earthly happening? Shouldn’t we just pack Christmas neatly away?

Not so fast. Hold on.

God has comforted his people.
He has tenderly nursed his beaten-up, beaten-down people.

But Zion said, “I don’t get it. God has left me.
My Master has forgotten I even exist.”

“Can a mother forget the infant at her breast,
walk away from the baby she bore?
But even if mothers forget,
    I’d never forget you—never.
Look, I’ve written your names on the backs of my hands.
(Isaiah 49:13-16, MSG, emphasis added)

No matter how you feel, God loves you.
No matter what happens, God will never forget you.
No matter what, God is with you.

I know life can get really crazy. I know it can feel that there’s no God. But we can’t base our life on feelings. But we can trust the word of God. Our future is as bright as the promises of God.

Stop doubting and believe! (John 20:27, NIV)

That’s what Jesus said to Thomas after the resurrection. And that’s what Jesus is saying to us today. It’s time to stop doubting and believe.

Okay. How do we do that?

We start acting like we believe. We start obeying even when it does not make sense. We trust God that he knows what he is doing. Because he does. Because his love is everlasting. Because he is the giver of life and more life.

I’ve learned that the more I obey, the more I feel God’s presence in my life. The more I trust, the more faith I have. The more I act upon my faith, the more powerful God is in/through my life.

Don’t wait until you feel like believing. Choose to believe. Act on your faith. Dare to celebrate. Raise the roof!

God is real. God is love. God is with us. Until the end of the world. Alleluia!

Gracious God,
Thank you that you have written our names on the backs of your hands.
Thank you that you always love us.
Thank you that you will not forget us.
We believe, Lord, help our unbelief.
Empower us to embrace your Word and stake our lives on it.
Teach us how to love and trust you more.
Show us how to live out our faith,
how to reach out for others in your name.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: Are you a doubting Thomas or does believing come easy to you?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you celebrate God today! He is mighty good!
