Weekend Prayer Wall {Apr. 21-22}

Prayers in a Sanctuary
Prayer wonderfully clears the vision; steadies the nerves; defines duty; stiffens the purpose; sweetens and strengthens the spirit.
~S.D. Gordon

The great thing in prayer is to feel that we are putting our supplications into the bosom of omnipotent love.~Andrew Murray

If I had cherished evil in my heart,
    my Lord would not have listened.
But God definitely listened.
    He heard the sound of my prayer.
Bless God! He didn’t reject my prayer;

    he didn’t withhold his faithful love from me.
(Psalm 66: 18-20, CEB)

I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, will give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation that makes God known to you. I pray that the eyes of your heart will have enough light to see what is the hope of God’s call, what is the richness of God’s glorious inheritance among believers, and what is the overwhelming greatness of God’s power that is working among us believers. This power is conferred by the energy of God’s powerful strength.  God’s power was at work in Christ when God raised him from the dead and sat him at God’s right side in the heavens, far above every ruler and authority and power and angelic power, any power that might be named not only now but in the future. God put everything under Christ’s feet and made him head of everything in the church, which is his body. His body, the church, is the fullness of Christ, who fills everything in every way. (Eph. 1: 17-23, CEB)

Father,
give us wisdom to perceive you,
intellect to understand you,
diligence to seek you,
patience to wait for you,
eyes to behold you,
a heart to meditate on you
and a life to proclaim you,
through the power of the Spirit
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(Benedict, 480-543)

Eternal God,
the refuge of all your children,
in our weakness you are our strength,
in our darkness our light,
in our sorrow our comfort and peace.
May we always live in your presence,
and serve you in our daily lives;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
(Boniface, ~675-754)

  1. Please pray for my elderly parents. (89 &91) pray for them to have a better outlook and to look to Jesus. I pray that they come to truly know Him and that He will comfort them during this scary time. (Dad’s in pain from cancer in his pelvis and can’t get around very well and Mom gets confused and fixated on things sometimes. She also is losing her eyesight.) And…if I may ask…please pray for strength for me as I am the only one of their children who lives near them and feel alone in being their caregiver. Please also pray that they get along and find joy in each other…”in sickness and in health”!

    Thank you so much!

    1. Dear God, we pray for Joan and her elderly parents. You know the situation and you know what’s needed. Cover all of them with your healing and sustaining grace. Draw them near to you for comfort and peace. May they find each other and you in a new way through this difficult time. Thank you that you are in control of this situation. Show them your love and care in very special ways. In Jesus’ name, Amen

  2. Dear God,
    I praise you for your loving-kindness!
    I praise you for listening to our prayers!
    I praise you for your amazing plan for this world.
    Thank you for taking care of us.
    Draw us near to you.
    Bless us according to our needs.
    Be praised forever and ever.
    Thank you for your love and grace!
    Pour out grace upon grace on us.
    May Your will happen in all of our lives.
    In Jesus’ name,
    Amen

  3. Mari-Anna,

    Please pray for the family of Richard. He was found dead in one of our local lakes. He and his brother were spending the weekend together fishing. The sad part of this is that another brother died recently from brain cancer. Their mother (who is my parishioner) is quite devastated to say the least!

    Blessings…

    1. Dear God, we pray for the family of Richard who has recently died. Send them healing grace and surround them with your comforting presence. Lord, take away their misery and fill their emptiness with your love and grace. Lord, we don’t understand but we trust You. We praise you in the midst of sadness. Bless the family of Richard according to their every need. Thank you that you are leading all of us Home to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen
