Weekend Prayer Wall {Feb. 4-5}

Our prayers lay the track down which God’s power can come. Like a mighty locomotive, his power is irresistible, but it cannot reach us without rails.~ Watchman Nee

The Christian life is not a constant high. I have my moments of deep discouragement. I have to go to God in prayer with tears in my eyes, and say, ‘O God, forgive me,’ or ‘Help me.’ ~Billy Graham

Let us thank God heartily as often as we pray that we have His Spirit in us to teach us to pray. Thanksgiving will draw our hearts out to God and keep us engaged with Him; it will take our attention from ourselves and give the Spirit room in our hearts.~  Andrew Murray

God’s Word is better than a diamond,
better than a diamond set between emeralds.
You’ll like it better than strawberries in spring,
      better than red, ripe strawberries.

There’s more: God’s Word warns us of danger
and directs us to hidden treasure.
Otherwise how will we find our way?
Or know when we play the fool?
Clean the slate, God, so we can start the day fresh!
      Keep me from stupid sins,
      from thinking I can take over your work;
Then I can start this day sun-washed,
scrubbed clean of the grime of sin.
   These are the words in my mouth;
these are what I chew on and pray.
Accept them when I place them
      on the morning altar,
   O God, my Altar-Rock,
      God, Priest-of-My-Altar.
(Psalm 19: 10-14, MSG)

O Lord,
I do not know what to ask of You.
You alone know what are my true needs.
You love me more than I myself know how to love.
Help me to see my real needs which are concealed from me.
I do not dare to ask either for a cross or for consolation.
I can only wait on You.
My heart is open to You.
Visit and help me, for the sake of your great mercy.
Strike me and heal me; cast me down and raise me up.
I worship in silence Your holy will and Your unsearchable ways.
I offer myself as a sacrifice to You.
I have no other desire than to fulfill Your will.
Teach me to pray. Pray You Yourself in me.
Amen

(Metropolitan Philaret, 1782-1867)

Holy Spirit dwell in me,
that I may become prayer.
Whether I sleep or wake,
eat or drink,
labor or rest,
may the fragrance of prayer rise effortlessly,
in my heart.
Purify my soul and never leave me,
so that my heart and mine may,
with voices full of sweetness,
sing in secret to God.

(Isaac the Syrian, 7th century)

  1. Dear God,
Thank You that You know what’s best for us.
Please, open the right doors for us
    and close the wrong ones.
    Guide us clearly and
show us how You want each of us to serve You.
    Embrace us with Your grace,
give us rest when we need it,
and enable us to always dwell in You.
    In Jesus’ name,
    Amen

  2. What an encouragement to pray!  I love the Watchman quote.  I want to be faithful to lay the tracks.  A beautiful post which spoke to my heart and urged me to get on my knees.

    Blessings,
    Pamela

  3. Please hold the family of Doug Lemon in your prayers. He died from brain cancer on Wednesday. He was a brilliant man who died too young.

Also, there is a young woman who is in need–she realizes that her current relationship with another woman is sinful, yet does not have the money to move out and find her own place to live. She is married, but her husband and child are in a different state. She also suffers from some medical issues as well. May God help her find the escape to a new life!

    1. Dear God,
We pray for the family of Doug Lemon. They are mourning the loss of their beloved. Comfort them with your healing grace, Lord. Give them hope, renewal, and strength to carry on. Lord, on your mercy!

We pray for this young woman and her complex situation. You know her and you love her. Draw her near to you and guide her to a bright future in you. May your will happen in her life.

      In Jesus’ name,
      Amen

  4. We can also prayf for two young teenager, the other has difficulties with her father and family and the other has other things example with her self-knowing. God save those teenagers and help they to find their best places for life. Thank God, that you have a good will to everyone and you know and hear our voices!

    1. Yes, Lord! We pray for these 2 teenagers. Let them know that you love them very much and that you have a wonderful plan for their lives. And increase their understanding that their value lies on you, That they are precious just because they are your children. Lord, give them clear guidance, assure them of their worth in your eyes, and strengthen their hope for the future. Draw these teenagers close to you and let them find eternal joy in you. Thank you, Jesus, that you are taking care of these young people. In Jesus’ name, Amen
