Share the Joy of Water!

Share the Joy of Water!

The gift of baptism is mind-blowing. When we go under the water we drown our sins. When we come out of the baptismal water we have a free life in Jesus. Experiencing the forgiveness of sins is one of the most amazing things in life. We need to remind ourselves of this gift and receive it every single day. Being alive in Christ is the best thing than can ever happen to us. It’s not our doing but we can submit to it through faith in Christ. Think of it! All sins forgiven by grace of God! Definitively something to write home about. Let’s share the joy of Water!

Entering into this fullness is not something you figure out or achieve. It’s not a matter of being circumcised or keeping a long list of laws. No, you’re already in—insiders—not through some secretive initiation rite but rather through what Christ has already gone through for you, destroying the power of sin. If it’s an initiation ritual you’re after, you’ve already been through it by submitting to baptism. Going under the water was a burial of your old life; coming up out of it was a resurrection, God raising you from the dead as he did Christ. When you were stuck in your old sin-dead life, you were incapable of responding to God. God brought you alive—right along with Christ! Think of it! All sins forgiven, the slate wiped clean, that old arrest warrant canceled and nailed to Christ’s cross. He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets. (Col. 2: 11-15, MSG)

As important as the baptismal water is to souls to be alive in Christ so is clean water for children around the world to stay alive and healthy. I live in a country of more than 100 000 lakes. On the top of that Finland has a generous shoreline. There’s never a lack of water. That’s why my heart breaks when I hear that every week 42000 people die for reasons clean water could help cure. And 90% of them are children. Matt Windley is organizing a charity fundraising adventure for water this month. This is a concrete way how we can also share the joy of clean water. Gracious God,
Thank you for the gift of baptism.
Equip us to share the joy of salvation.
Show us how to put our faith in practice.
Help us to share the joy of clean water.
Fill us with your Spirit.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

  1. Thank you for sharing Mari-Anna. As much as we should share the Living Water with people who don’t know Christ, we should also be giving water to the least of these.
