God Not Only Loves You Very Much

God Not Only Loves You Very Much

I always feel awkward when someone says “You can be anything you want to”, because that’s not true. We do have limitations. We are not gifted in all areas of life. We don’t have equal opportunities. But thank God that’s not the end of it.

As MaxLucado has said: “You cannot be anything you want to be. But you can be everything God wants you to be”. That is SO true! We can be everything God wants us to be! God has beautifully created us and gifted us for his purposes! God not only loves you very much but he has glorious plans for you!

Every time we think of you, we thank God for you. Day and night you’re in our prayers as we call to mind your work of faith, your labor of love, and your patience of hope in following our Master, Jesus Christ, before God our Father. It is clear to us, friends, that God not only loves you very much but also has put his hand on you for something special. When the Message we preached came to you, it wasn’t just words. Something happened in you. The Holy Spirit put steel in your convictions.
(1 Thes. 1: 2-5, MSG)

What then does God want you to be? He wants you to be you. He wants you to use faith, hope and love in your everyday life. The key to find out your special calling is to pray. Count your blessings, evaluate your gifts, lay them down to Jesus. God will show you the way. Do your creative best in searching for and living your God-given calling.

But don’t only pray for the big picture. Pray each day to use your time right. Pray for guidance for your daily tasks. For example, I could not write my blog posts without God’s guidance. It’s like through prayer the Holy Spirit would activate my creative juices. We are not meant to struggle through life alone. God offers not only salvation but partnership in life.

Being dependent on God’s guidance is a way to make sure…
… we are embracing faith, hope and love in our lives.
… we are living in God’s will.
… we are becoming everything God wants us to be.

That’s how I want to live my life. How about you?

Gracious God,
Come, be the Lord of our lives!
Guide us to use our time wisely.
Show us how to become everything you want us to be!
Come, be everything for us!
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Q4U: How have you found out what God wants you to be?

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim, as you search for and live your calling!

  1. My wife and I totally agree when we tell our kids “You can be anything God’s wants you to be.” Too often we hear our friends using the language of the world without even thinking about how that sets up their kids to miss their true destiny.

  2. Desire is plays a pivotal role in our affairs. Billions are spent to manipulate it to various ends. The statement “you can be/have whatever you want” serves to maintain us in the state of want which for the most part seems to be the state of mankind. It is as you said, a lie. Thank you for exposing it.
I have come to believe that God can and will/ lift us out of the state of want and into his Love if we “want” Him to and ask Him to. Our desire for Life in the fullest will be met by His desire to give us Life in the fullest.

    1.  YES! You’re so right! I also think that this is getting worse and worse all the time. The general thinking these days seems to be “I desire, hence I am” and that develops into “What ever I desire I deserve”…and soon we allow ourselves to do whatever we desire. Oh, don’t get me started! LOL. Thanks so much, Norris, for commenting. Abundant blessings to you as seek God’s amazing best for you!
