But God!

But God!

I was delighted to see how enthusiastically people responded to the God’s Love Letter yesterday. People seem to crave assurance of God’s love for them. The wonderful thing is that the Bible is full of God’s unwavering love for us.

Anytime you want to be assured by God’s amazing love check out some of the Bible verses that include these two little words “but God”. They’re small words but they declare God’s powerful ways to operate in this world in a big way! I’ll share here just a few of the Bible verses so you can get a taste for the power of these two little words: “but God!”

My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.
(Psalm 73:26, NIV)

[Joseph to his brothers] You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. (Genesis 50:20, NIV)

David stayed in the wilderness strongholds and in the hills of the Desert of Ziph. Day after day Saul searched for him, but God did not give David into his hands. (1 Sam. 23:14, NIV)

When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
(Matthew 19:25-26, NIV)

He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts. What people value highly is detestable in God’s sight. (Luke 16:15, NIV)

When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the cross and laid him in a tomb. But God raised him from the dead, and for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses to our people. (Acts 13:29-31,NIV)

Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. (1 Cor. 1:26-27, NIV)

Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:7-8, NIV)

Rest assured that our God is an awesome God.
Rest assured that God is in control.
Rest assured that God loves you and wants only good things for you!

What does God want from us then?

That we would (re)turn to him.
That we would love him and obey him.
That we would live our lives the Jesus way.

That is the best thing that can ever happen to us. Like Charles H. Brent has said: “To be able to look into God’s face, and know with the knowledge of faith that there is nothing between the soul and Him, is to experience the fullest peace the soul can know. Whatever else pardon may be, it is above all things admission into full fellowship with God.”

Because of Jesus this is possible.
Because of Jesus we can look into God’s face.
Because of Jesus we can have forgiveness and receive admission into full fellowship with God! Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!

Gracious God,
Thank you for being so amazingly wonderful!
Thank you for loving us so much!
Thank you for preparing us the way back to you.
Forgive us our sins.
Enable us to embrace “but God” attitude for life.
Enable us to live our lives the Jesus way.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Be blessed, my fellow pilgrim. Our God is an awesome God! Enjoy his presence in your life!
