Stay Strong

Stay Strong

It’s Melodic Monday! I felt that little encouragement is in order and picked a song that do just that in an amazing and powerful way: Stay Strong by Newsboys!

You’re in the moment now
A bitter rouse
A wandering eye and then
The ties that bind start wearing thin, within

You’re in the moment now
When all that you’ve been blessed with
Is not enough
Here’s where the ground gets loose
Here’s where the devils call your bluff

Stay strong
You are not lost
Come on and fix your eyes ahead
There’s a new dawn to light our day, our day
You’ve gotta stay strong
You and I run
For the prize that lies ahead
We’ve come too far to lose our way, our way

We’ve seen the tragic flaws
The tortured souls
The saints with feet of clay
Here’s where sin becomes cliche’

We’ve come through wilderness and watched
The cloud by day
The burning sky into dawn
Have you forgotten who you are?
Did you forget whose trip you’re on?

Stay strong
You are not lost
Come on and fix your eyes ahead
There’s a new dawn to light our day, our day
We’ve gotta stay strong
You and I run
For the prize that lies ahead
We’ve come too far to lose our way, our way

Get up, there’s further to go
Get up, there’s more to be done
Get up, this witness is sure
Get up, this race can be won
This race can be won

We’ve gotta stay strong
You are not lost
Come on and fix your eyes ahead
Our Father’s dawn will light our day, our day
Come on and stay strong
His grip is sure
And His patience still endures
There’ll be no letting go today, no way

Come on, and stay strong
You and I run
For the prize that lies ahead
We’ve come too far to lose our way, our way

No matter what you are going through in your life right now: God is there. God is good. God loves you and carries you when necessary. You can count on God on days that you don’t feel God’s presence. You can count on God on days when you don’t understand what’s going on. “Because God is not who you think He is; He is who He says He is”(Clarice Fluitt). Because God is powerful no matter how you feel. Because God is real even when you can’t feel his presence. God knows what’s best for you even when you can’t understand what is going on. God is good – all the time! So let’s keep on walking in faith. We’ve come this far! Let’s keep on going.

Let the words that encouraged Joshua encourage you! After the death of Moses the servant of God, God spoke to Joshua, Moses’ assistant: “Moses my servant is dead. Get going. Cross this Jordan River, you and all the people. Cross to the country I’m giving to the People of Israel. I’m giving you every square inch of the land you set your foot on—just as I promised Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon east to the Great River, the Euphrates River—all the Hittite country—and then west to the Great Sea. It’s all yours. All your life, no one will be able to hold out against you. In the same way I was with Moses, I’ll be with you. I won’t give up on you; I won’t leave you. Strength! Courage! You are going to lead this people to inherit the land that I promised to give their ancestors. Give it everything you have, heart and soul. Make sure you carry out The Revelation that Moses commanded you, every bit of it. Don’t get off track, either left or right, so as to make sure you get to where you’re going. And don’t for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you’ll get where you’re going; then you’ll succeed. Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. God, your God, is with you every step you take.” (Joshua 1:1-9, MSG, emphasis mine)

Gracious God,
Don’t give up on us!
Don’t let us get off track,
don’t let us get discouraged.
Give us strength!
Give us courage!
Be our everything.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

  1. Wow! Loved the song AND the message! Had not heard this one, but will consider adding it to my MP3 player…..I don't know if you've heard of Joyce Meyers or not, but she's an excellent Bible teacher. We must live by FAITH – not by FEELINGS……but there are times when I'll say a little prayer and just ask the Holy Spirit to allow me to "feel" His comforting arms around me:)

  2. Thank you, Mimi, for your comments. Feelings are important but we can't base our faith on those. But, yes, we need to feel God's presence sometimes, too. I call them mountaintop experiences. May you feel God's presence in a special way!
